MO Legislative News
IP Reform
I spoke to Senator Brattin this afternoon about this last week in session, and without getting in to all the bloody details, know it was not a good week for conservatism or the pro-life cause. Once again, the actions of MO Senate leadership do not match their words. For all of their claims that IP Reform was a priority for the MO GOP, they made no effort to actually move the IP Reform bills forward, or treat them any differently than any other bill, which generally means it “may” get addressed at the end of session, IF leadership gets around to it.
As many of you know, the pro-abortion lobby has well established plans to get a right to abortion amendment on the ballot this year. If we don’t get IP reform done this session, abortion may very well be the law of the land very soon. The MO Freedom Caucus, led by Senator Rick Brattin, attempted to force GOP leadership in the Senate to take up IP Reform legislation this week, because they understand just how important this is to us. They attempted several procedural maneuvers, up to and including a filibuster. Senate leadership eventually shut them down and with the exception of Mike Moon and the Freedom Caucus members, the rest of the Republicans just let it happen. There is also talk behind the scenes now of punishing the Freedom Caucus in a variety of ways to make an example of them, especially Senators Brattin and Eigel.
Now would be a good time to contact Senate leadership and voice your support for making IP Reform a priority over other legislation, even if it means they bypass their precious process, and let them know you support the MO Freedom Caucus’ efforts to make that happen.

Subcommittees
I’m just going to say it. Between the legislative activities happening in the current session in Jefferson City, the upcoming primaries across the county and state, the presidential caucus, and my normal work schedule and home life, I’m tapped out. One person cannot keep track of it all. I have mentioned this at previous 4Cs meetings but have not actually put out the call. It’s time to fish, or cut bait, as my Dad says. We need to create some subcommittees to divide the work.
I’m thinking we need one or more subcommittees to focus on specific areas of legislation that can weed through all the House and Senate bills likely to get action this session, such as education, gun control, taxes, etc. The deliverables for these committees would be a summary of each bill, pros/cons as the subcommittee sees them, and an action plan for the larger group, with contacts, dates, etc. As these bills make their way through the chambers, keep that info updated, and report back to me as necessary, so that I can include those updates in normal 4Cs communications, and potentially send out emergency contacts when necessary. If you are comfortable with public speaking, you may be called on to provide a verbal update at a meeting. If not, that is perfectly fine. I will handle the verbal updates in that case.
We should also have a subcommittee to focus on education in the county, to be responsible for keeping tabs on the school boards, library boards, etc. The deliverables for this subcommittee would be to keep track of activity from these boards, research complaints of inappropriate materials being used in the classroom, or being available to inappropriate age groups in the libraries, researching curriculum choices the school districts are making, etc.
I also think it would be good to have a subcommittee focused on health regulations in Cass county and the state of Missouri. We all know that health departments, if left unchecked, will run over the liberties of free citizens in the name of “safety” and the “common good”. The deliverables for this subcommittee would again be similar to the others. Track the activities of the Cass county health departments, the state health department, as well as instances of hospitals, pharmacies, health corporations, and public health clinics behaving in tyrannical ways or not respecting the rights of our citizens.
If you are passionate about any of these subjects, and you have the time to devote to something like this, please reach out to me, and we can talk about whether or not leading or participating on a subcommittee would be a good fit for you.
Do we need other subcommittees? Please reach out to me if you think so, and we can discuss it.

National News
Did you know there was a pipe bomber on the loose during the January 6th protest? I remember hearing something about that in the news on the day of, but then I never heard anything about it again after that. Tucker Carlson has released part of an interview he did with Darren Beattie with Revolver News on Rumble (free). I think you’ll find it interesting.

Book Recommendation
I have always been an avid reader, but I have avoided history related books for a long time, because it seemed like all historians had turned hard left, and embraced a revisionist view of American history that paints the United States as an evil “colonizing” nation that only benefited rich, white men. Recently, I was introduced to a history book that really embraces the American exceptionalism I was fortunate to learn when I was in school. I highly recommend anything by Larry Schweikart, but particularly his book, A Patriot's History of the United States: From Columbus's Great Discovery to America's Age of Entitlement. He has even released a homeschool history curriculum!
