“A wise and frugal government, which shall restrain men from injuring one another, shall leave them otherwise free to regulate their own pursuits of industry and improvement, and shall not take from the mouth of labor the bread it has earned.”
Thomas Jefferson
ReadySetGoGoGo!
The 2025 legislative session is well underway, and if you feel overwhelmed trying to keep up with all the legislation being thrown around, you are not alone. I can hardly keep track myself, and I certainly have not had time to review many bills. I can tell you that our friend Michael Compton, over at Act4Mo is doing his best to keep things organized and make it easy for us to stay up to date with his Bill Tracker (Beta). Please check out the Bill Tracker, which has time sensitive alerts available to help us focus on communicating with our representatives on the key legislation being presented and debated.
Action Needed To Protect Homeschools
Our friends at Missouri Homeschool Alliance (MHA) have been following education related legislation in Jefferson City, and there are two bills that are of particular and immediate concern. SB53 and SB195 are both problematic, and need to be modified. The biggest threat to homeschools as I see it is the definition of “home school” as follows:
This language is in both bills. Regardless of what you think about the current push for “School Choice” legislation, one thing that unfunded homeschool families have consistently demanded, and rightly so, is to be excluded from any changes or considerations, because history shows that with shekels come shackles. There is never a time where government provides money without demands, and the School Choice movement across the country is proving to be no exception. When SB727 was passed last year, “section 167.012” mentioned in the definition above was created to provide just such a distinction and separation to protect unfunded homeschools from government intrusion and regulation. The FPE school was created to represent funded homeschools, and are thereby subject to all the shackles that come with the “free money” from the government. Now, in both of the bills mentioned above, that definition is being blurred, and as you can see for yourself, the definition of a “Home School” is “the same meaning as provided in section 167.012, OR an FPE school”.
For further breakdown and explanation of all the issues with this legislation, please visit the related MHA Blog that explains everything. The MO Senate Education Committee has already been contacted by many homeschool families with this, and other concerns with this legislation, but they have thus far done nothing to fix the problems. Please reach out and politely, but firmly request that this be changed to ensure unfunded homeschools are left alone.
Constitutional Money Act
A public hearing has been scheduled for Rep. Bill Hardwick's HB433 and Rep. Michael Davis's HB630, the "Constitutional Money Act"! This would make gold and silver legal tender again, and it would take steps towards restoring sound money in Missouri!

Concerns With Senate Bill 14
RFK Jr. to Investigate Rise in Chronic Disease
Robert F Kennedy Jr., the new Secretary of Health and Human Services (HHS) has stated that he will investigate the rise in chronic disease. You can hear a portion of his speech by clicking here.
He is following up on President Trump’s Executive Order to establish the Make America Healthy Again (MAHA) Commission with the express purpose of investigating the general decline in American health over the last two generations. Please pray with me, that real progress can be made in this endeavor, and all interference from outside parties would be shut down, and the truth of the matter, whatever that might be, comes to light.
